A number of Talkeetna business openings and closings and changes have occurred over the past month:
–Moose Juice and Nuggets is opening its doors this spring on the corner of the Spur Road and main street Talkeetna at the old Dancing Bear location. They plan on serving Bavarian style cinnamon roasted almonds and pecans, soft serve ice cream, regular drip coffee, hot cocoa, and bottled water. They want to be open mid April, but need to rearrange and remove part of the current establishment. Owner operator Melody Blackledge says the true goal is to be open May 1st.
–Juanita’s has closed its doors for good, at least at its current location on Main Street in downtown Talkeetna. Owner Jerry Allison says that due to circumstances beyond his control he is closing and will not reopen in any other location for at least a year.
–Although several people have shown interest in the empty lot next to Talkeetna Travel on the corner of the Spur Road and 2nd Street in downtown Talkeetna, there are no business licenses granted in that location to date.
–In other business news, the Latitude 62 is turning into a completely non-smoking establishment.
–There was a business license granted last year for a new business called Trapper Jack’s Pub and Grub. Although the corporation still holds a license, the restaurant does not appear to have a current business license and the phone number is inoperable. The business was scheduled to open this summer in the mini mall across from Mahay’s in Talkeetna.
Do you know of a business new to the Susitna Valley? KTNA will add it to the once a month announcement of openings and changes in the Upper Valley.
