Alaska State Troopers are spreading the news about a mass training exercise to be held this weekend so residents won’t be alarmed.
Troopers and other law enforcement officials will be armed and wearing gas masks at the Mat Su Regional Medical Center in a 2-day exercise. Emergency medical and fire department personnel will be on the scene on Saturday.
The exercise is meant to simulate an emergency event and participants will be rehearsing response plans.
The full scale exercise is a complex event designed by the Mat Su Regional Center with help from the Alaska State Troopers, the Palmer and Wasilla Police, and the Mat Su Borough Emergency Management team.
