At approximately 10 o’clock Sunday night, the Alaska State Troopers and Talkeetna EMS responded to a single vehicle rollover near milepost 12.5 of the Talkeetna Spur Road.
Troopers say that Colette Folk of Talkeetna was traveling southbound in her pickup when she went off the roadway on the uphill curve and rolled several times. The vehicle came to rest on the driver’s side. According to Troopers, Folk was partially ejected and medivac’ed to Providence in Anchorage by Life Med helicopter.
The investigation into the accident is continuing. Folk’s condition at this time is unknown. The hospital is not releasing information on the patient.
Trooper Spokeswoman Megan Peters said all heck broke loose in the Upper Valley Sunday night. Another Life Med incident included a motorcycle chase down the Parks Highway. Troopers tried to stop a motorcyclist and his passenger at milepost 59. It turned into a pursuit as Troopers followed the motorcycle to milepost 91. As the cycle tried to turn off the highway, the passenger was ejected. Shortly afterward, the driver left the motorcycle and ran into the woods. The passenger was evacuated by helicopter to Providence in Anchorage. The driver was later contacted by Troopers.
A third incident involved a passenger being thrown from a vehicle near milepost 133 of the Parks Highway. Peters says the passenger was transported to Mat Su Regional and the name is not being released. Troopers found that a 51 year old Talkeetna man had pushed a passenger from his vehicle. Troopers located him at milepost 47 of the Parks Highway shortly after the incident. He was charged with assault, DUI and misconduct involving a weapon and taken to Mat Su Pretrial.
