Glitch fixed to allow donations at PFD website

A large number of Alaskans trying to file for their permanent fund dividend and donating portions of it to Alaskan charities through the Pick-Click-Give program encountered difficulties over the weekend, but by Wednesday, the PFD division fixed the problems.

The filing period for PFD applications started January 1st and frustrated donors flooded the PFD division and the Foraker Group with calls. The Foraker Group administers the Pick-Click-Give program. Foraker spokeswoman Kathy Day reports that the number of people who managed to donate some of their PFD money to Alaska charities shot up on Monday through Wednesday.

On Saturday, only 98 out of 39,000 people succeeded in donating to Pick- Click-Give. By Wednesday, 935  made Pick-Click-Give donations. The PFD application deadline is March 31.

The idea behind the Pick-Click-Give was to make it easy for Alaskans to donate to charities or non-profit organizations of their choice. In Talkeetna, four non-profits qualify to be part of the click-pick-give program. They are the Denali Arts Council, the Sunshine Community Health Center, the Jessica Stevens Community Foundation and KTNA.
