Hiker arrested for expired driver’s license

A hiking trip ended in jail for a Talkeetna man on January 2. Troopers report that Byron Leu, age 32, was overdue to return from a hike near Mastodon Road. Troopers located him and took him back to the trail head where he had parked his vehicle.

This is where Leu got in trouble as troopers found out that his drivers license was revoked and that he had an outstanding arrest warrant from a previous driving without license conviction.  Leu was issued a summons and arrested on the outstanding warrant. Troopers took Leu to the Mat-Su Pretrial facility where he was held on $1,000 cash bail.
