KTNA holds annual meeting

The KTNA Board of Directors held their annual membership meeting Sunday night with a crowded house at the Talkeetna Roadhouse.  A slideshow with Diana Haecker’s “In the Field” photos ran on a big screen and Francis Twigg tinkled the ivory keys on the piano as an introduction to the evening.

Bruce Hamler and Todd Basilone were elected to the two open seats on the board.  Election officials said it was a ‘very close’ race among the five people on the ballot.  Several volunteer awards were presented.  Bruce Hamler read a list of people that have been involved as volunteers continuously for the past decade or more.  They are the 2000 Volunteer Award winners and will all receive a special CD compliation from KTNA shows: Kathleen Fleming, Holly Stinson, Robert Ambrose, Paula Hunt, Stu Carnegie, Colleen Love, Becky Peterson, AJ Sullivan, Loudon Wilson, Tony Crocetto, Ann Yadon, Robin Song, Maureen McLaughlin and Emmila Denny.  Holly Stinson was presented with the ‘Foundation Award’ as someone who provides steady long term support and has been involved continuously with KTNA as a volunteer for more than 10 years.  She has been music host, news reader and Nuggets host and filled in for others and a generous donor and former 2 term Board member. Trisha Costello was recognized as the ‘Above and Beyond Award’ winner for this past year for her news volunteering and being involved in all aspects of the community.

A special award was presented to exiting general manager, Robert Ambrose, for all his work and dedication over the past 6 years.  A special recognition went to Michael Vaughan for his unfailing dedication to the station since its inception.  A posthumous recognition and applause went to volunteer Emmila Denny, who had been a volunteer continuously since the first days of KTNA.
