Talkeetna-Sunshine area resident Tom Kluberton has been appointed by Governor Sean Parnell to the Alaska state Board of Fisheries.
Kluberton became well known in fishery circles after he was appointed by then-mayor Curt Menard to serve as the chairman on the Blue Ribbon Sportsmen’s Committee. Kluberton says he learned a tremendous amount about Alaska fisheries during that appointment. Kluberton also served on the Mat Su Borough Assembly from 2006 through 2009.
He said even though he declared last year that he was retiring from the political arena, he is happy about this new challenge. He said he is reluctant to discuss details of the appointment until after his confirmation hearing scheduled for Friday, April 9th. The joint session of the legislature will examine and vote on his appointment on that day.
The governor also re-appointed Claude Vince Webster of King Salmon to the Board. The remaining vacancy created by the resignation of Janet Woods of Fairbanks will be filled within 30 days as required by the legislature.
