Talkeetna man convicted on drug charges

A federal jury found a 67-year-old Talkeetna man guilty of possessing methamphetamine with the intent to distribute it in Alaska. William Pariseau was tried in US District Court Judge Ralph Beistline’s court room in Anchorage.Pariseau  was arrested at Seattle international airport in October 2008. Airport law enforcement officers observed that Pariseau was walking stiffly and appeared to have unnatural bulges under his pant legs. They searched Pariseau and found that he had 2.3 pounds of meth strapped to his legs with elastic bandages.

Pariseau  was arrested and stood trial in Anchorage.

The jury took only one hour to deliberate and announced their guilty verdict on Wednesday.

Sentencing is set for August 3. Pariseau faces a mandatory minimum sentence of ten years in prison and a fine up to $4 million.
