A vehicle crash near Wasilla over the weekend resulted in the death of a 20 year old Anchorage woman. The driver of the single vehicle crash is now charged with murder.
Palmer area Troopers responded to a call, early Saturday, of a Pontiac Grand Am off the roadway on Vine Road. 21 year old Joseph Tello of Anchorage was found on the ground near the vehicle, sitting next to 20 year old Amber Anderson. She was on the ground bleeding heavily from her head. Both individuals were transported to Mat Su Regional.
Trooper investigators found that Tello had been driving the vehicle when it left the roadway. It had rolled multiple times. Alcohol was involved and there is no indication that the two people were wearing seatbelts.
When Tello was released from the hospital he was charged with assault in the first degree, DUI and driving with a revoked license.
Anderson was transported from Mat Su to Providence with substantial head injuries. Later in the day, Anderson died of her injuries. According to Troopers, Tello is now charged with murder in the second degree and criminally negligent homicide.
