Earthquakes shake Susitna valley

The Alaska Earthquake Information Center located two earthquakes Sunday afternoon in the northern valley.  The first one occurred at 1:12 and had a preliminary magnitude of 4.1. It was centered 43 miles southeast of Talkeetna and 19 northwest of Palmer.  It was located at a depth of about 2 miles. The shallow quake was felt by residents in Wasilla, Palmer, Talkeetna, Willow and as far away as Eagle River.

The second quake came at 3:34 pm.  The preliminary magnitude was measured at 3.07.  It was centered 44 miles east of Talkeetna, 44 miles north of Sutton, and 73 miles south of Cantwell.  It was located at a depth of 26 miles.

There are no reports of damage from either quake.
