Romano acting at Borough in interim

The Mat Su Borough’s animal control chief has resigned.  Borough spokeswoman, Patty Sullivan, confirmed the sudden resignation and said that the Borough doesn’t talk about personnel matters.  Bob Haskell had only been at the Borough for 2 years.  His predecessor Dave Allison, resigned in September of 2008, with little notice.

That leaves the Borough without a land management director, a permanent borough manager, a community development director and a few other key positions.  Mayor Colberg gave his notice in early August and will leave mid October.

However, Sullivan says that Marion Romano, the former Assistant Borough Manager, is back and filling in during an interim period.  On her door hangs a sign that reads – ‘Super Woman:  community development, land management and animal care director.’  Romano was employed at the borough for less than 5 years but quickly became known as an efficient manager.  It is expected that she’ll stay in the interim position until some of the positions are filled.  According to Sullivan, Romano has no plans to apply for any director position and is headed overseas when her work is done at the borough.
