Willow man injured in vehicle-moose collision

The Alaska State Troopers responded to a call of a motor vehicle striking a moose near milepost 63 of the Parks Highway south of Willow Wednesday evening.

Ronald Dougherty Junior, age 40, of Willow was northbound on the Parks Highway when he struck a moose that entered the roadway.  He was wearing his seatbelt.  The vehicle had to be towed from the scene and Dougherty was transported to Mat Su Regional with minor injuries and then was released.

The vehicle damage was estimated at over two thousand dollars.  The moose was donated to charity.
