A search and rescue operation successfully recovered a snowmachiner who had gone missing in the Kashwitna River area near Willow on Sunday. According to trooper reports, Joseph Travis and Santiago Lara, both of Anchorage, were snowmachining in the Kashwitna River area when they became separated. Lara returned to the trailhead and called for help at fifteen minutes before 6 pm, and a search and rescue operation was initiated by Alaska State Troopers and Alaska Wildlife Troopers. Travis was located a little before one am Monday morning, and was escorted back to the trail head. Travis was cold, wet, but otherwise in good health, trooper reports said.
