Dusting of snow closes Park road

The road in to Denali National Park was closed for a period  on Thursday morning after up to 4 inches of snow fell at higher elevations. The Eilson visitors center, which is at mile 62 and sits at 3,700 feet in elevation reported four inches of snow Thursday morning, and the park road was closed form Toklat Rest stop at Mile 53 starting at 8:30 am, until warming weather and snow plows were able to re-open the road Thursday afternoon.

Busses will continue to run on the park road until September 13th, after which the road will open to those who have won the “road-lottery” to enter the park in a private vehicle.
