Increased moisture could lead to a warmer arctic

Increased moisture in the arctic in the form of more rain and larger river discharge into the oceans could become a factor in climate change, according to researchers at the University of Alaska Fairbanks’s International Arctic Research Center.
The study, led by Xiangdong Zhang, says that the arctic  is becoming wetter, with higher air moisture, precipitation, and river discharge have all led to a stronger water cycle, which in turn could intensify climate change. Previous studies have suggested that increased presence of freshwater in the artic ocean decreases salinity and allows for warmer surface temperatures.

The study results were published in the journal Nature Climate Change.
