The Alaska Division of Forestry has suspended all burn permits in the Mat-Su Borough.
The suspension, which was issued on Tuesday, applies to open burning and burn barrels. Small campfires are still allowed, but discouraged.
The reason for the suspension, according to Forestry, is a combination of rising temperatures and low humidity in the Valley.
Burn suspensions are temporary, and can be lifted once conditions become safer.
