This is the Denali Report for Friday, July 6th, 2018.
Currently, there are 1,115 climbers registered to attempt Denali this year, and just fewer than 150 attempts are underway. Almost a thousand climbs have been completed, with forty-six percent making it to the highest point in North America.
Independence Day typically marks the impending end of climbing season, and this year is no different. Rangers and air taxi personnel are preparing to leave Denali, and all of the climbers remaining on the mountain are with guided groups, according to the National Park Service.
All remaining teams were at high elevations as of Tuesday. One team was reported to be at Fourteen Camp, and eight had already moved higher, where conditions were clear, but windy.
The remaining ranger patrols on Denali are conducting mop-up work for the season and breaking down remaining camp infrastructure.
