All precincts have reported for House District 10 in Tuesday’s primary election.
Overall, the district saw about twenty percent turnout for the primary. The highest percentages were in Willow and Talkeetna.
For most races, the Susitna Valley followed statewide trends. Alyse Galvin came out on top in every precinct in the Democratic primary for U.S. House. Mike Dunleavy, who used to represent the area in the state Senate, carried the Susitna Valley by a margin of more than four-to-one over second place finisher Mead Treadwell.
In the Republican primary for Lieutenant Governor, District 10 deviated from the rest of the state. Had it been left up to voters in the Susitna Valley, Edie Grunwald would be the nominee. In statewide totals, Senator Kevin Meyer prevailed.
There were two local legislative primary races on the ballot. For House District 10, Patricia Faye-Brazel began with a narrow lead over Neal Lacy that expanded as late tallies came in.
Mike Shower will be running in the general election this November to retain his seat in Senate District E. He jumped out to an early lead over Mat-Su Borough Assembly Member Randall Kowalke, which he held throughout the night. Shower carried every precinct with a total of sixty-seven percent of the vote.
The general election will be held on November 6th.
