The Su Valley Co-Ed Soccer team proved itself to be the team to beat in the 2018 Division II State Championships held in Anchorage, September 27-29th. Throughout the season, the Su Valley Rams lost only two games, one against Delta and one against Cook Inlet Academy.

The Co-Ed Soccer program has grown over the past few years with a total of 30 players. The rule is to have at least four male and four female players on the field at all times. Both Head Coach Tom Harrison and Assistant Coach Steve Harrison believe that the improved skills of the female players added to the success of this year’s season. Tom Harrison stated in an interview that positive energy and team chemistry are the foundation of championship teams. The players of the Su Valley Rams demonstrated both qualities throughout the State Championship game held at Begich Middle School in Anchorage on Saturday.

KTNA’s Katie Writer spoke with Su Valley Assistant Soccer coach, Steve Harrison about this past weekend’s victory that crowned the Su Valley Rams the 2018 Division II State Soccer Champions, beginning with the 5-0 victory over Birchwood.

Blake Drover and Dalton Pinard were named to the All Tournament Team. MacKenzie Moore set the record for the most goals scored by any female in the history of the Su Valley Co-Ed Soccer Program.
