The Su Valley Rams volleyball team brought home a second place finish in the state tournament last weekend.
The tournament began on Thursday, with the Rams taking on King Cove. Su Valley came out on top. Friday’s earthquake significantly disrupted the tournament schedule. Games scheduled for Friday were delayed, and the tournament venue was moved.
As a result of rescheduling, Saturday had a very full slate of games. Su Valley continued moving through the winner’s bracket with victories over Wrangell and Craig.
That sent the Rams to the championship match against Glennallen. Su Valley lost the best-of-five series as well as the decider match.
In addition to the second place team finish, multiple Su Valley players won individual honors. Sophomore Kenna Grenier, senior Trisha Pevan, and senior Kiana Schorr were named to the All Tournament Team. Schorr was also named as the tournament’s best setter for the third consecutive year.
Head Coach Chad Valentine says his players should be proud of the way they finished the season, and that they showed continual improvement in the final weeks of the season.
