The Willow 300 is a go, according to a social media post by race organizers.

On Friday, the official Facebook page for the race stated that a decision would be made Monday on whether or not the race would go forward. That news came after the Knik 100 and 200 were canceled last week. Knik 200 officials cited safety concerns, particularly on areas including the Yentna River, as the reason for canceling the race, which had already been postponed.

Over the weekend, race officials re-examined the race route, and posted updated maps for the event, which begins Thursday at Willow Lake. Teams will run from Willow Lake to Sheep Creek Lodge, then to the Trapper Creek Trading post and the Forks Roadhouse before returning to the finish line at Sheep Creek Lodge.

More than thirty teams are signed up for the race, including many mushers from the Susitna Valley.

The Willow 300 is a qualifying race for the Iditarod.
