Talkeetna’s Anja Radano and her team will be the first to set off for Nome in the 2019 Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race.

On Thursday, the fifty-two mushers competing in this year’s Iditarod drew bib numbers to determine the starting order for the ceremonial start tomorrow and the official restart on Sunday.

Anja Radano drew bib number two, which means she will be the first to set off for nome. Bib number one is an honorary position. This year, that honor goes to well-known philanthropists Ed and Cathy Rasmuson.

The ceremonial start of the Iditarod is scheduled for tomorrow at 10:00 am. The restart in Willow is scheduled for 2:00 pm on Sunday.
