Northern Valley man arrested after standoff with Troopers

A Northern Susitna Valley man was arrested on Thursday after a short standoff with Alaska State Troopers.

Troopers arrived at a residence off the Parks Highway around 1:30 pm on Thursday to serve a domestic violence protective order to 52-year-old David McNease.  Troopers say they served the order and told McNease he would have to leave the property.

At that point, Troopers say McNease ran back into the residence and threatened to get a rifle to shoot the Troopers.  He then called 911 and told dispatchers that he had a rifle and would shoot the train, passing motorists, and anyone on his property.  Due to the threats, train and school bus services were suspended.

Members of the Alaska Special Emergency Response Team and a Trooper helicopter responded to the scene.  After what Troopers describe as a short standoff, McNease exited the residence and was taken into custody without further incident.  He is charged with Terroristic Threatening and violation of a domestic violence protective order.  He is currently being held without bail.
