The Mat-Su Borough is allowing free disposal of beetle-killed spruce at three locations.
The central landfill in Palmer will accept beetle kill spruce seven days a week from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The Big Lake transfer station is also participating seven days per week from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.
In the Northern Susitna Valley, the Sunshine transfer station at mile 102.5 of the Parks Highway will accept beetle kill trees from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm on Sundays.
Only the trees themselves qualify for free disposal. Grass, leaves, and stumps are not accepted free of charge.
