A head-on collision on the Parks Highway claimed the lives of two people over the weekend. According to Alaska State Troopers, a small sedan traveling northbound near Mile 61 of the Parks Highway lost control on the ice and slid into the southbound lane. Troopers say 65-year-old Peter Walsh of Wasilla was driving south in a full-size pickup truck, and was unable to stop or avoid colliding with the sedan.
The driver and passenger in the sedan died at the scene. Their identities have not yet been made public.
