Talkeetna Community Council seats new board members

The Talkeetna Community Council held its first regularly scheduled meeting using the Zoom platform this week. The Council had been meeting outdoors during the summer months and through the fall. As the weather turned colder, members had expressed concern over meeting indoors during the pandemic.

During the Zoom meeting, newly elected Board members Kathy Trump, Doug Smith, Jonathan Korta, and Jodi Rodwell were seated. They joined existing Board Members Lora Nelson, Cortni Ruth and Kristie Kingery.

Jonathon Korta was elected Chair of the Council Board, with Jodi Rodwell named as Vice-Chair. Doug Smith will serve as Treasurer, and Cortni Ruth will remain as Council Secretary.

At the meeting, the Council awarded $15,789 of Revenue Sharing funds to local community organizations. The Upper Susitna Food Pantry received the highest share of the funds, with a $4,089 grant.

The Board also discussed moving Council subcommittee meetings to the Zoom platform. Secretary Cortni Ruth assured the group that Zoom links to Council meetings will be posted on the Talkeetna Community Council’s website.

The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Council will be held on January 4th, 2021.
