Su Valley Class of 2021 graduates at in-person ceremony

Thirteen students received their diplomas Wednesday evening as the Susitna-Valley Class of 2021 held their graduation at the high school.

The event was not open to the general public but each graduating student was able to invite a handful of family and close friends to attend in person.

Class Salutatorian, Kenna Grenier spoke to the class, remembering special moments from the past six years.  She declared, “Whenever our class gets together we have an unlikely but special chemistry.”  She added, “They say that time flies when you’re having fun, and the past one-third of my life has whisked by me in a blur.”

Class Valedictorian, Maya Mossanen also spoke of the special qualities held by her fellow students saying, “I am so excited to see the people you all become, because from the start you have been some of the most creative, fun, supportive and passionate people.”

The Class of 2021 invited Ed O’Connor, their middle school science teacher, to speak at their graduation.  Mr. O’Connor had developed and maintained a strong bond with this class over the years.  He pointed out how each of the graduates had unique and special qualities.  He asked the class to think about their superpowers saying,

“We play as kids, but as we grow up, play becomes adventure. Adventures have real risks and real rewards. Your style in the face of challenges is your superpower.  Remember how you have used that here and your lives will become great stories.”

Congratulations to the Susitna-Valley Class of 2021!
