11:10 pm: Incident Commander Brian Calvert has announced that the 3-4 acre fire had been declared 100% contained at 11:10pm on July 4th.
7/4 8:36 pm: We will suspend on-air updates at this time, unless the situation changes. The last prognosis was positive on getting the Mile 92 fire controlled. If that changes, we will let you know.
7/4 8:00 pm: The fire is not yet considered contained, but Emergency Services Director Ken Barkley says crews have it surrounded. He asks that anyone who does not need to evacuate keep the roads clear for Emergency vehicles.
7:45 pm We have confirmation of a fire at Mile 92 of the Parks Highway. According to Mat-Su Borough Emergency Services Director Ken Barkley, the fire was around an acre about ten minutes ago, and one structure has been lost. A few evacuations have been made in the immediate area. The evacuation point is the Upper Susitna Senior Center. Resources from Talkeetna, Willow, Caswell, Lakes, and the Division of Forestry are on scene. There is hope that the fire can be contained.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
