The Northern Susitna Valley is less than a month away from Election Day. While many municipalities in Alaska held their elections on Tuesday, voters in the Mat-Su opted to move the local election to November to better line up with state and federal elections. This year, the Northern Valley will vote for its Mat-Su Borough Assembly Member as well as Borough Mayor.
In addition, community councils are holding elections. On Wenesday, Talkeetna Community Council published its list of candidates. Four people are running for four available seats. The candidates are Frannie Christensen, Jeffry Hesse, Jennifer Crosby and Krister Bowman.
While the number of people running matches the number of available seats, the candidate who receives the fewest votes will not be elected to a full term, but will rather serve the remaining year of Council Member Doug Smith’s term. Smith left the board earlier this year. Other outgoing board members are Cortni Ruth, Lora Nelson, and Kristy Kingery.
Candidate bios are posted at talkeetnacouncil.org.
