Talkeetna Bachelor Society distributes more than $41,000 in auction proceeds

Disclosure: KTNA News Producer Phillip Manning serves as the current board president of the Talkeetna Bachelor Society.

The Talkeetna Bachelor Society has distributed the proceeds of the record-breaking 2021 Talkeetna Bachelor Auction.

Held on December 4th, the auction brought in more than $40,000 in bids and donations, making it by far the largest auction to date.

Half of the auction proceeds were transferred to the Talkeetna Bachelor Society Fund for Women and Children in Crisis.  That fund is administered by the Alaska Community Foundation and use of its funds is advised by the Jessica Stevens Community Foundation.

The remaining money has been distributed as grants to local non-profits in the Northern Susitna Valley.  This year’s recipients include Denali Education Center, Green Light Circus, The Upper Susitna Food Pantry, Sunshine Transit, Denali Nordic Ski Club, the Upper Susitna Softball Association, VFW Auxiliary Post 3836, Sunshine Station Childcare Center, KTNA, Talkeetna Elementary School, and Su Valley Junior/Senior High School.  The grants will fund a wide variety of programs including meals for local children, after-school activities, and school field trips.
