The Alaska House of Representatives has tabled a measure that would remove Representative David Eastman from all House committees.
The House Committee on Committees met Monday morning and drafted the recommendation. According to Anchorage Daily News’ James Brooks, the committee voted five-to-two to recommend Eastman be removed from all committees.
The move is the latest development since it was revealed that Rep. Eastman is a life member of the far-right Oath Keepers group. Some Oath Keepers leaders are facing charges for their participation in the assault on the U.S. Capitol building on January 6th of last year.
Eastman was present in Washington D.C. that day as well, but has denied any participation in the attack on the Capitol multiple times.
The House was set to vote on the committee’s recommendation Monday morning, but after Eastman raised an objection on technical grounds, it was tabled. The House is scheduled to meet next on Wednesday morning.
