Borough accepting library advisory committee applications through Friday

More than twenty people have applied for seats on the Mat-Su Borough’s new Library Citizens’ Advisory Committee. About half of those who have applied live in the Northern Susitna Valley.

In the vacancy report for the meeting, ten people were listed for the District 7 seat, which includes the Northern Valley.  While discussing the report, Borough Mayor Edna Devries said that more applications had come in, including two more for District 7, but had not been received in time to make it into the meeting materials.

Mayor Devries says she intends to begin making appointments to the committee at the May 21st meeting. She has said previously that her intent is to have the seven seats represent each assembly district, if possible.

According to Mayor Devries, the deadline to apply for the committee in time for the May 21st meeting is this Friday.
