Upper Valley residents will be able recycle electronics for four days in July. The events are sponsored by several partners and are free for residents.
Microwaves, toasters, laptops, printers, fluorescent bulbs, and wires will all be accepted. However, there are some limitations. Large appliances, smoke alarms, scrap metal, batteries, and anything containing liquids will not be accepted.
Though Talkeetna has hosted electronics recycling for the past few years, it was located downtown and geared only toward Talkeetna residents. This year, one event will be held at the Upper Susitna Community and Senior Center near the Y to include Trapper Creek and Caswell Lakes residents. The Willow Transfer Site also will host an event.
Volunteers will begin breaking down the items and load them into pallets for transport. Moore’s Hardware will help by forklifting the pallets onto the transport truck at Y event location. Volunteers are still needed to help with the event at the Upper Susitna Community and Senior Center.
No identification or coupon is required to participate. Larger appliances and other items that are not accepted at this event may be taken at the Big Lake transfer station or the landfill for a fee.
Recyclable electronics will be accepted for free at the Upper Valley Community and Senior Center on Saturday, July 20th and Sunday, July 21st from 11am to 4pm. The Willow Transfer Site will also be taking electronics for recycling on Friday, July 26th and Saturday, July 27th, 11am to 4pm.
