The Mat-Su Borough Assembly certified the election results at a special meeting on Tuesday. Mayor Edna Devries will retain her seat. Incumbent District 7 Assemblymember Ron Bernier pulled aheadwith 3,128 votes against Sheena Fort. She received 2,703 votes.
Through propositions, voters in both Willow and Caswell Fire Service Areas opted to consolidate their departments. This merger aims to eliminate redundancies and improve administrative efficiencies. The departments have already been operating as one. The merger will not change staffing or leadership. However, Caswell area residents will see a drop in their mill rate to match the rates in Willow.
Ballots in the State elections are still being counted as of Tuesday.
