Two months after the Borough’s Library Citizens Advisory Committee, or LCAC, decided to review Anne Frank’s Diary: The Graphic Adaptation, Community Development Director Jillian Morrissey announced the book will be relocated to the adult section at Monday’s LCAC meeting.
The LCAC operates in an advisory role to the borough, reviewing challenged library materials and recommending whether the books stay where they are, be reshelved in another section, or removed from the libraries altogether. After much discussion at last month’s meeting, the LCAC voted 4-3 in favor of reshelving the graphic novel to the adult section before passing on that recommendation to the Borough.
Morrissey said the LCAC’s recommendation, along with community interest in the graphic novel, impacted her decision. She added that the borough respects parental choice and parental responsibility when it comes to monitoring what their children checkout from the public libraries.
