Better weather over the weekend allowed crews to repair washouts along Petersville Road in the Trapper Creek area. The road had been washed out in multiple spots following heavy rains and flood conditions in local creeks and streams. The road conditions left about 30 people stranded in the Petersville area beginning on Labor Day weekend.
Department of Transportation and Public Facilities Administrative Operations Manager Justin Shelby says the crews repaired Petersville Road to Cache Creek. He says some of the washouts may have been low water crossings that can be safely crossed now that the water has receded.
He notes that the roads beyond Cache Creek were already repaired, but not by DOT. Shelby says the crews worked up to about mile 38.2. As of Monday evening, crews were demobilizing and pulling equipment.
Shelby says Petersville Road is open to traffic so residents are able to travel as usual in the area.
