According to the Alaska Department of Public Safety Communications Director Austin McDaniel, Troopers received a report in August that William Barclay of Talkeetna had pointed a firearm at two juveniles.
According to McDaniel, the juveniles were riding ATVs on a trail near Talkeetna. When Troopers responded to arrest Barclay, he fled on foot into the woods. He was armed with a long gun. Troopers were unable to locate him at that time.
Subsequent to that event, an arrest warrant for Barclay was granted due to his high-risk previous actions, according to McDaniel. Trooper’s Southcentral SWAT Team took Barclay into custody on the morning of September 26. He was arrested without incident. While serving the warrant for Barclay’s home, Troopers seized multiple firearms.
Barclay has been released from custody, according to a representative at the Palmer Pretrial Facility.
