The Susitna Valley High School Volleyball team placed second at the Alaska State Volleyball tournament last weekend.
Jayden Sliker was named as “Best Setter” for the tournament and Team Captain, Ashley Delima was selected as the “Best Server”. Both players were also named to the “All Tournament” team.
Su Valley began by winning their first match against Glennallen. After a 3-0 loss to Sand Point, the Lady Rams battled their way through the consolation bracket, first by beating Koliganek and Wrangell, and then prevailing in a re-match against Sand Point 3-1.
In the championship game, Su Valley fell to conference rival, Unalaska 3-0.
In addition to it’s gritty performance on the court, the Rams walked away with the “Academic Award” for the team holding the highest collective grade point average of all the state finalists.
