Volunteer Behind-the-Scenes

KTNA has many projects that need attention. Volunteers help us get important work done and keep our expenses low so we can focus on providing great programming for the community. We also need help during on-air fundraising event such as answering phone.

Be an On-Air Volunteer – Host a Show or Read the News

KTNA is always looking for new talent to be the voice behind our news broadcast, to host a music show, or help with the production of other local shows. The voices and time of our on-air volunteers help make us a truly community radio station. Check out our current on-air volunteers.

Steps to Being an On-Air Volunteer

Interested in being on-air? Here is what you need to do.
With only a handful of hours of your time and our support, you can be an on-air volunteer.

  1. Visit KTNA  – We will show you around. You can see the studio and meet the staff and ask questions.
  2.  Sit in on a local show – If you are interested in hosting a music show, we can arrange for you to sit in on a show with one of our experienced volunteers. If you want to read the news, we will set you up to sit in with a current news reader.
  3. Review our volunteer policies in KTNA’s Volunteer Policy Manual. Ensure they are policies you can commit to and take the open-book test. (about 1 hour)
  4. Set up a time with our Volunteer Coordinator to learn how to use the equipment. (about 45 minutes)
  5. Come in and practice. (1 to 2 hours)
  6.  Record a short demo to show you are ready to be on-air. (30 – 60 minutes)
  7. Sign your contract and you are ready to go live!
We will find a regular spot in the schedule for you or you can be on our sub list.
