Talkeetna Community Council member Don Lee has resigned his position on the council.
He told the council and attending public Monday night that he didn’t feel right about being gone for 2 months at a time. He is being deployed to Afghanistan and will be working 2 months on and 2 months off. His skills as an Alaskan bush pilot proved valuable in starting work for Blackwater. The security firm is changing its name to XE, pronounced zee, and according to world news sources, moving its focus away from security.
Lee says he’ll keep in touch and will be back in Talkeetna now and then during his months off but doesn’t feel he has the time to devote to the council.
The council will begin the formal nomination process to replace Lee at the April meeting and vote in May on his replacement. Anyone residing in the Talkeetna Community Council area that would like to serve on the council is asked to contact the council and submit their name for nomination.
