On Thursday night, the Susitna Community Council Board of Directors held its monthly meeting.
At the meeting, representatives of CRW Engineering outlined the plan for a pedestrian underpass near Su-Valley Junior and Senior High School. The CRW representatives say that construction of the underpass is likely to take place in 2016, and will probably coincide with the resurfacing of the Parks Highway from Mile 90 to Mile 99. In response to questions from the community, CRW says that the walking path that accompanies the underpass will likely not interfere with the existing four-wheeler and snowmachine trail along the Parks.
Also on Thursday’s agenda was a candidate forum for the SCC Board elections, which will occur on November 1st. According to Chairman Robert Coleman, there were insufficient nominations to fill all of the seats, and one member will be appointed by the Board after the elections. He says that while the seat will be appointed, that the Board is seeking volunteers who are willing to serve as a Council representative.
Robert Coleman also says that the revenue sharing funding that had previously been held up at the Borough level has been cleared, and organizations that will be receiving grants through the revenue sharing program will be contacted soon.
