Su Valley Girls Return to State Basketball Tournament

The Su Valley girls basketball team will return to the state championship tournament this weekend.

The girls took second place in the Interior Conference tournament over the weekend, earning them a berth in the state tournament.  The Su Valley boys did not finish high enough in the tournament, but did receive the sportsmanship award.

In addition to team honors, many individual Su Valley players received individual awards at the conference tournament.

Emma Kehoe, Alana Barron, Bethany Kehoe, Ashley Delima, Poppy Moren, Lilly Esmailka, London Moren, and Eric Cassidy received All-Academic awards. Emma Kehoe, Bethany Kehoe, Alana Barron, and Austin Fox were awarded All-Conference medals for their performance on the court. Barron was also named the girls Conference Player of the Year.

The 2A State Championship Tournament begins on Thursday at the Alaska Airlines Center in Anchorage. Su Valley’s first game is scheduled for 12:30 pm against Chevak.
