Cooler temperatures and recent rains have kept the Montana Creek Fire activity to a minimum. Officials with the Alaska Division of Forestry and Fire Protection report that the Montana Creek Fire is 91 percent contained as of 9:00 am Monday morning.
Crews continue to mop up the perimeter and respond to issues within the burn area. And the perimeter hose line remains around the burn edge. Ninety personnel are still on site.
Officials say they are continuing to demobilize equipment and personnel if they are not needed. There have been no spot fires or reignitions over the weekend.
According to officials, there have been no new fires reported in the State over the last 24 hours. Temperatures are expected to warm toward the end of the week, which may change fire potential in the Upper Valley. Officials remind drivers to continue to use caution and slow down on the Parks Highway where crews are still working between Miles 94 and 100.
