StarDate Susitna 8-4-24, by Kathleen Fleming

Part 2 of the Eclipse Experience series has the same seven Upper Susitna Valley residents (Corinne, Elliott, Sally, Karl, Linda, Will and Holly) answering Kathleen Fleming’s interview questions #6-9, of 18.

Plus a heads-up for the peak of the Perseid meteor shower on Aug 11-12, now that the wee hours are getting almost dark.

Linda Gordon visited family in Oklahoma for a 3 generation eclipse experience.  Her new grandson was actually asleep in this photo, but protected and soooo cute!
Elliott Hunker took this photo of the Eclipsed Sun visible through dramatic clouds, using the camera on his cell phone.
Viewing with family in the backyard in TX, Elliott took this image of his dad and brothers, at a jaunty angle 😎
Merry Stinson took this photo of the partial solar eclipse with her cell phone, holding in front of the lens a flat filter made of the same material as the eclipse glasses.
This page is a star chart created from the very useful website heavens-above.com. Kathleen has added the circle showing the area that is the radiant of the annual Perseid Meteor Shower. Ideally, an observer would be someplace with a full view of the sky since the trajectory of these shooting stars begin in the east (the circle) but can streak out toward any quadrant.
