AND she tells us what astro-sights to look for now that the wee hours of the morning are dark enough to see the Milky Way.

Karl Swanson took this image that shows the Totally Eclipsed Sun and brilliant Venus to the lower right. He may have captured Jupiter as well if the image included more space above the Sun.
During the partial phase you might see crescents under a leafy tree, rather than the normal dappled light. The leaves act as “pin holes” to reveal the shape of the Sun. Lingering after Totality gives a person more relaxed time to observe such phenomena. Photo by Karl Swanson.
