KTNA Accessibility Statement

KTNA is committed to making our website and digital services accessible to the widest possible audience, including people with disabilities. We aim to provide an experience that is perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust.

Conformance goal

KTNA aims to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA where reasonably practicable. The website has undergone accessibility-focused code review, automated checks, keyboard checks, and responsive testing. It has not received a formal independent accessibility audit, so KTNA does not claim complete WCAG conformance at this time.

Measures taken to support accessibility

The KTNA website includes the following accessibility measures:

A "Skip to content" link for keyboard and assistive-technology users.
Semantic page structure, including clearly identified header, navigation, main content, article, sidebar, and footer regions.
Logical headings and machine-readable dates where supported by the published content.
Keyboard-accessible navigation, dropdown menus, mobile menu, search, membership controls, sharing controls, and live-radio controls.
Visible keyboard focus indicators throughout the theme.
Navigation controls that communicate their expanded or collapsed state to assistive technology.
Support for closing menus, dropdowns, and expandable panels with the Escape key, along with focus management for major interactive overlays.
Responsive layouts designed to reflow across phones, tablets, laptops, desktops, browser zoom, and enlarged text without unnecessary horizontal scrolling.
Touch-friendly control sizes on mobile devices.
Alternative-text support for meaningful images, with decorative artwork hidden from assistive technology.
Accessible names for icon controls, social links, external partner links, search, sign-in, account, and subscription actions.
Live regions and status messages for live-radio information and actions such as copying a share link.
A live-radio player whose play, pause, and details controls expose their current state to assistive technology.
Reduced animation for visitors who enable the "Reduce Motion" preference on their device.
Default colors, borders, labels, and focus states designed to provide readable contrast and avoid communicating meaning by color alone.

Compatibility

The KTNA website is designed to work with current versions of major browsers, including Safari, Chrome, Firefox, and Edge, on desktop and mobile devices. It is also designed for keyboard navigation and compatibility with commonly used screen readers and other assistive technologies. Older browsers or unusual browser and assistive-technology combinations may provide a less consistent experience.

Known limitations

Despite our efforts, some content may not yet fully meet every accessibility expectation. Known or possible limitations include:

Some older or user-created articles may contain incomplete alternative text, heading structure, captions, or link descriptions.
Transcripts or text alternatives may not be available for every live broadcast, archived audio program, or externally supplied media item.
Some PDF files, public documents, or other legacy downloads may not be fully accessible.
Third-party services and embedded content, including Ghost membership and search tools, Spinitron schedule information, weather information, sponsor advertisements, forms, and external nonprofit or partner widgets, are partly controlled by their respective providers. Their accessibility may vary and may change without notice.
Links to external websites are outside KTNA's control and may not meet the same accessibility standards.

KTNA assessed the website theme through accessibility-focused source-code review, automated accessibility checks, keyboard interaction testing, responsive viewport testing, focus-state review, and visual review of desktop and mobile layouts. Accessibility is an ongoing effort, and the website will continue to be reviewed as content, features, and third-party services change.

Scope

This statement applies to the KTNA website and theme-operated pages. It does not apply to external websites or services that KTNA links to but does not control.
