AEA looks for new executive director

The Alaska Energy Authority has announced their quest for a new Executive Director.

Past ED Steve Haagenson retired this past year and there is a temporary fill-in.

Board Chairman John Winther says the new director needs to have significant management experience and demonstrated ability to lead and inspire.  They hope to find a forward-thinking, big picture executive with technical knowledge.

Haagenson was only in the position for about 2 years.  Prior to his position at AEA, he was with Golden Valley Electric for 32 years. AEA spokesman Karsten Rodvik said Haagenson’s mission as short time Executive Director was to work on a state wide energy policy.  That mission was accomplished and he moved back to Fairbanks to be with his family.

The Alaska Energy Authority is a public corporation of the state whose mission is to reduce the cost of energy in Alaska.

The deadline for the executive position application is December 22^nd.
