A scoping meeting for the Alaska LNG project will be held in Trapper Creek on Thursday evening. The Trapper Creek meeting is part of a three-week series of events throughout the state.

Alaska LNG is the so-called “gigaproject” that would take natural gas from the North Slope and pipe it to the Kenai Peninsula, where it would then be liquefied and exported. The project involves Conoco-Phillips, BP, and Exxon-Mobil, as well as the State of Alaska. The estimated cost of the total project is between forty-five and sixty-five billion dollars. According to the current plan, the pipeline would run through Trapper Creek on its way south.

The meeting is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. at Trapper Creek Elementary. The meeting announcement also says that representatives of Alaska LNG will be on-site an hour before the meeting begins to answer questions.
