aired mon – The second annual Alaska State Trooper Adventure Relay started today in Fairbanks. The 566 mile, non motorized race to raise money for the Wish Upon the North Star charity starts with a running relay. Residents in the upper valley can expect to see racers along the Parks Highway on Wednesday.
Today, (mon) participants run to Ester, then bicycle to Nenana. The bicycle race continues late Monday to Healy. On Tuesday, troopers will bicycle to Byers Lake Campground.
The raft leg of the trip starts Wednesday. The raft trip ends at milepost 104 and more biking and running legs head down the Parks Highway Wednesday afternoon.
Bicycle legs of the race head past Wasilla and Eagle River and the race continues Thursday at Alyeska. Race participants end the race on the Kenai Pennisula on Friday. The race culminates Friday afternoon in Soldotna.
Participants are state, federal, military and law enforcement and firefighters and corrections officers. Troopers are encouraging community members along the route to cheer racers on when they race through the various communities along the way.
