Alaska State Troopers were busy over the Memorial Day Weekend in the Upper Susitna Valley…
On Saturday afternoon, Alaska State Troopers with the Bureau of Highway Patrol conducted a traffic stop on a white Chevy truck on Bradley Road near Susitna River Drive in Trapper Creek. The driver was identified as Blake Larson, age 22, of Ester, Alaska. Investigation revealed that the driver, Blake Larson of Ester, Alaska, had an outstanding warrant from Harris County, Texas. Larson was arrested as a Fugitive From Justice, and is being held until he can be extradited to Texas.
Early Sunday morning, AST observed an ATV driving erratically on the shoulder of the Parks Highway near the Talkeetna Spur in Talkeetna. Troopers contacted the operator of the ATV, Shannon Dulany age 28 of E agle River, in the Parking Lot of Cubby’s Market in Talkeetna. Troopers say Dulany was Driving Under the Influence of an alcoholic beverage and was arrested for DUI.
Early Memorial Day morning, Alaska State Troopers received a report of a shooting at the Sheep Creek Campground. Palmer and Talkeetna patrol troopers were dispatched to the campground. Troopers were told that there had been gunfire during the day in the campground area. There was a confrontation between several campers about the gunfire. Troopers received a report that a male camper had confronted a second camper and produced a firearm.
Troopers were advised camper number one, a 27 year old male, shot camper number two, a 31 year old male. A third camper, a 29 year old male, produced a firearm and shot camper number one. Camper number one and number two sustained life threatening injuries. Camper number three has been detained on scene. Alcohol is suspected to be a factor. Investigation is ongoing.
On Monday afternoon, Troopers responded an accident involving a vehicle and a 3-wheeler ATV. The accident occurred about 1 mile Willow station Road. Investigation revealed that a 1993 Jeep carry all was traveling west on Willow Station Road when a 1972 Honda three wheeler driven by a 5 year old juvenile entered the road way. The driver of the Jeep tried to stop, but still made contact with the rear of the 3-wheeler. The child was thrown from the ATV and sustained minor injuries. The owner of the Jeep was cited for no insurance. The investigation is continuing.
